‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ opening scene leaked? Reddit Theory Says The Movie Starts With Gorr’s Origin Story

‘Thor: Love and Thunder’s early reactions also led to leaks. One of them claims to be about the opening scene which tells the origin story of Christian Bale’s antagonistic character, Gorr the God Butcher. The film, set after the events of “Avengers: Endgame,” follows Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder as he embarks on a new quest with the Guardians of the Galaxy.

While the movie may include some Guardians footage, expect some of it to be about Thor, Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), and Gorr. The official synopsis reads: “Thor embarks on an unprecedented journey – a quest for inner peace. However, his retreat is interrupted by Gorr the Butcher God, a galactic killer who seeks the extinction of the gods. To fight the threatens, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie, Korg and his ex-girlfriend Jane Foster, who – to his surprise – inexplicably wields his magic hammer. Together they embark on a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of God Butcher’s revenge.”

Does the film open with Gorr’s origin story?

According to a tweet from NoobMaster69 that was discussed on the theoretical platform, the first scene of “Thor: Love and Thunder” is Gorr’s origin story. But the Reddit theory also adds that the origin story isn’t as “epic” as shown in the comics, but a more grounded version. For those unaware, Gorr was born on a planet that was pretty much hell, with starvation being one of the biggest threats. Taught to believe in the gods, his fervent prayers go unanswered as he grows up fighting and fending for himself. Tragedy strikes again when he loses his pregnant companion Arra to an earthquake while his son also dies.

Left with a son, Hagar, who eventually starves to death, Gorr explicitly lashes out at the gods and is exiled. Shortly after, he watches two gods fight in a desert. While one of them is known as Knull, a dark god, the other is revealed to beg for help. An enraged Gorr who realizes that powerful beings do exist, uses the Dark God’s Sword, which transforms into an all-black Necrosword, to kill the other powerful being. He then embarks on a journey to kill all the gods, earning his name God Butcher.

Whether this is the exact scene the film shows is uncertain. But at first glance, a recreation of that would still be impressive. With Marvel Studios pulling off some powerful scenes over the past decade, Gorr’s origin story might turn out to be one of the MCU’s best opening sequences.
