The El Paso native is the producer of the hit Netflix movie ‘Day Shift’ starring Jamie Foxx

EL PASO, Texas — Yvette Yates Redick is one of those people you might call a Hollywood hyphen. In his case, it’s El Pasoan-producer-actor-new mom. She opened up about her time at Sun City and her career on ABC-7 at 4.

Redick and her husband Shaun are part of the production team behind the hit Netflix movie “Day Shift” starring Jamie Foxx and Snoop Dogg as the vampire hunters and Dave Franco as the union rep for the nerdy vampire killers. The film has set streaming records on Netflix since its premiere on August 12.

Yvette grew up in El Paso and Juarez. She graduated from Loretto Academy and Coronado High School and went to Los Angeles and attended UCLA, where she earned a BS in Physiological Sciences and published in the Journal of Molecular Immunology.

Her acting roles include serving as a bartender in director Paul Thomas Anderson’s 2014 film “Inherent Vice” and a starring role in “El Gringo” opposite Christian Slater and Scott Adkins. The game led to production, where she and her husband were producers of “BlacKKKlansman” and “Get Out” among other films. But perhaps his favorite production is his new son. “I was 7 months pregnant when we started production (on ‘Day Shift’) and I gave birth between our week-long hiatus (filming), we moved from Atlanta to Los Angeles, I had a baby boy, so this (the film) is truly a labor of love.”

She offered a hint about the next movie she’s producing. “I can’t say what it is yet, Yates told me, “but it’s with our Oscar-winning writers from ‘BlacKKKlansman’, a Latino-led cast, an amazing director and it’ll be fun to share. soon.”
