Ryan Jensen returns for 2022
March 13, 2022
UPDATE: 11:57 p.m. – Towels and talcum powder for everyone!
Tom Brady announced his 2022 return today, so it’s only fitting that his center has agreed a deal to return to the Bucs on the same day.
ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reports that Pro Bowl center Ryan Jensen won’t hit the free agency market tomorrow and will return for his fifth season in pewter and red. Reserve guard Aaron Stinnie, who made three 2020 playoff starts at right guard, was re-signed last week.
Ali Marpet has retired, so hopefully Stinnie can fill that hole and the Bucs can pick up the nickels to bring back starting right guard Alex Cappa, who is also expected to be a free agent this week.
Nothing is more important than keeping Brady up.
As for the opening paragraph, Brady is well known for ordering Jensen to maintain a ritual of shoving dry towels and powder up his ass so that Brady never gets a sweaty soccer ball.
It’s a three-year, $39 million deal for Jensen. Presumably, very little of that will count towards the 2022 salary cap.
The Buccaneers are retaining Ryan Jensen on a three-year, $39 million contract. General manager Jason Licht was determined to keep the Pro Bowl center after Ali Marpet retired, and now Jensen is back with a $3 million raise over last year’s salary: https://t.co/qm8mHRXraq
