Cuttputlli Movie Review: Positives

Stays true to what a thriller thriller should be, ensuring neither the pacing nor the tension drops for a moment. Akshay Kumar not only bounces back with a quality movie for the whole family after not enjoying the best of times with his last three outings, but it also serves as a timely reminder of his talent when given a role backed by the author. Technical details elevate the script, with location and camerawork playing a big part in creating the right atmosphere while the editing keeps you on your feet as the audience. Yes, Cuttputlli is an adaptation of the Tamil cult hit, Ratsasan, but that’s exactly how an adaptation should be – retaining the essence of the original while forging its own path. Akshay is given adequate support as Rakul Preet Singh, Chandrachur Singh and Sargun Mehta are all working effectively on screen. Cuttputlli Movie Review: Negatives

The few negatives here are that the movies could have been shorter and the suspense, while very good, seems a cut below Ratsasan, provided you’ve seen the original.

BL Verdict

All things considered, Cuttputlli is a welcome return to form for Akshay Kumar both as a movie and when it comes to his own performance. In fact, it should have hit the big screen during one of its three previous outings this year. I go with 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Evaluation : 3.5 out of 5
